For architects and interior designers
Design freedom within the listing.
Rated doors do not have to look rated. We help you choose veneer, finish, glass and hardware that fit the listing before the drawings are final.
- Veneer cuts, matching, paint-grade and laminate faces
- Spec support for Division 08 sections
- Submittals with listing data per opening
Where design meets the listing
- Leaf sizes and pair sizes have maximums per listing and rating
- Vision panels: size and glass type depend on rating and wall type
- Edge details: intumescent seals and edges must stay as listed
- Hardware: concealed closers, pivots and electrified hardware only where listed
- Finish: veneer species, cut and matching are free; labels must stay visible
What we provide for the spec
- Input for sections 08 14 16 (flush wood doors), 08 71 00 (door hardware) and 08 80 00 (glazing)
- Quality grade and duty level per WDMA I.S.1A or AWS

Questions
Frequently asked.
Can a fire door have a full-height vision panel?
Only within the listing and the code limits for that wall. 20-minute doors allow larger D-20 lites; in 60 and 90-minute exit doors fire-protective glass is limited to 100 square inches.
Can rated and non-rated doors look identical?
Yes. Faces, finish and edges can match; the difference is the core, the edge seals and the label on the hinge edge.
Do you help with specs before tender?
Yes. Send the door schedule draft and we comment on ratings, sizes, glass and hardware against available listings.
Code summary for orientation, based on the International Building Code (IBC), NFPA 80, NFPA 105 and the 2010 ADA Standards. Requirements depend on the code edition your jurisdiction has adopted and on local amendments. The architect of record and the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) decide for your project.
